Mercedes E400 Coupe review
Mercedes E400 Coupe review
The E400 is the priciest E Class Coupe you can buy. However, it's great value if you had been considering the old E500, as Mercedes has knocked about 7,000 off the price without losing too much performance. It's still not the most exciting car to drive, but it has many other impressive talents that'll keep it competitive in the premium coup class.Along with the E Class Cabriolet, Mercedes has also facelifted the Coupe. Among the changes is the addition of this new E400, which has a 3.0 litre twin turbo V6 and is designed to replace the thirsty V8 powered E500.While it doesn't boast the same bassy rumble as the V8 car, the E400 still sounds good. And 0 62mph takes http://www.personalhealthorganiser.co.uk just 5.2 seconds, so the 328bhp E400 is only a tenth slower than the more powerful 402bhp E500.It's also a lot more efficient, with economy of 37.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 177g/km, compared to 31.7mpg and 209g/km for the old car.The best news of all, though, is that while http://www.livingtorrents.org the E500 cost 53,770, the E400 will set you back just 46,265. It also comes with all the standard equipment you could want, including 19 inch alloys, AMG leather sports seats, a leather dash and a Harman Kardon surround sound stereo. But while the Coupe should be the sportiest version of the E Class, and this engine is the most powerful you can get, it still doesn't feel that exciting. There's no doubt overtaking ability is impressive, yet when it comes to taking corners, the E400 simply doesn't feel as taut as an Audi A5 Coupe. It's seriously impressive on motorways, though, with even better refinement than the Cabriolet. The ride is more composed, too, thanks to a stiffer bodyshell that doesn't tend to shake and shimmy. All the styling and technology updates applied to the Cabriolet have also been fitted to the Coupe. As a result you get the same smoother design, along with safety kit such as active lane keeping assist and a rear collision detection system.
Mercedes CV8 Brabus

Months before Mercedes AMG high performance arm launches its supercharged C32, Brabus has already set the pace for building the fastest C Class on the planet. And we were first to take to the road in the mind blowing sports saloon that will outrun a Ferrari. Months before Mercedes' AMG high performance arm launches its supercharged C32, Brabus has already set the pace for building the fastest C Class on the planet. And we were first to take to the road in the mind blowing sports saloon that will outrun a Ferrari. With a 400bhp, 5.8 litre V8 powerhouse under its slatted bonnet, the CV8 Brabus blasts to 60mph in only 4.7 seconds, then accelerates hard right the way to 185mph. Scary stuff indeed. But then if any company is capable of building a car like this to an outstanding standard, it's Brabus. 'The CV8 is a logical car for us to make because we have a lengthy history of fitting tuned V8 engines into com pact Mercedes,' Brabus founder Bodo Buschmann explained. 'We made the first 5.0 litre 190E in 1984, and our original CV8 was running in 1994, long before the AMG C43 hit the road.' Last year, AMG announced a special order only C55, with a 354bhp motor taken from the E55. But the new 5.8 litre CV8 Brabus easily betters this by producing 400bhp at 5,750rpm, and delivering a knockout blow of 580Nm of torque from 3,000rpm.Others seem to agree with this big is better V8 philosophy, and 10 customers have placed their orders since the CV8's international debut at the Paris Motor Show in September. What's in store for them? Well, the engine fires up with the deep 'whoof' that can only be produced by a powerful V8. Blip the throttle http://www.personalhealthorganiser.co.uk pedal and the compact Mercedes rocks to the rhythm of the huge torque output. You just know that driving this car is going to be fun.Slip the automatic transmission into Drive and gently ease down the throttle pedal. Even in damp conditions the big 19 inch tyres dig in and launch the C Class forward with help from the traction control system. But not without some tail wagging and a wildly flashing ESP (electronic stability program) warning light. Yet even under full throttle the beefed up gearbox slurs http://www.amateurpin.org its upshifts as impeccably as a standard Mercedes. And before you realise it, the CV8 is easily doing three figure speeds, while that mighty shove in the back feeling has only gently abated. The way this car devours German autobahns catches the drivers of other vehicles unawares. What appeared in their rear view mirrors a few seconds earlier as just another new C Class in the distance is quickly knocking on their tailgates. And unless they are at the wheel of a Porsche 911 Turbo or Ferrari 360 Modena, they would be well advised to move out of the way of this incredible saloon. Although the latest C Class's rear wheel drive chassis sets the class standard, it needs beefing up to be able to handle what is nearly double the horsepower output. Another reason is the additional 35kg in the nose a legacy of the larger engine. To rebalance the Mercedes, Brabus has developed 30mm lower sport springs and used Sachs dampers and thicker anti roll bars. Combined with the new front spoiler and rear valance, the lower ride height means that the CV8 boasts unerring stability at speed. The massive increase in power and torque require more powerful brakes. The Brabus/Alcon items have huge discs and calipers, and they look gorgeous when seen through the spokes of the three piece Brabus alloys with their 235/35ZR19 and 265/30ZR19 Michelin tyres. The CV8 rides firmly at low speeds, but when you increase the pace those uprated springs and dampers start to earn their keep, taking the edge off bumps and maintaining iron fisted body control. Stability is particularly impressive when you flick the car through an S bend at speed. One of the things you can do easily in a relatively light car with a torquey V8 motor is burn rubber. With the ESP switched off, the CV8 lights up its back tyres with abandon, leaving a cloud of expensive burning rubber in the air as it rockets off into the distance. On a new handling circuit near the Brabus workshop, we were easily able to flick the car's tail out with a stab on the throttle pedal, then hold on to some spectacular power slides. The interior gets the unique Brabus leather treatment on the seats and door panels, while other additions include a recalibrated speedo which reads up to 200mph for UK versions! The CV8 continues the lineage of Brabus pocket battleships; compact Mercedes with oversized engines. It looks and feels like a factory car rather than a modified one. Considering that a basic CV8 costs from

Jurgen Klopp stays patient in hunt for top Liverpool targets
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists he is remaining patient in an increasingly difficult transfer market as the club have done a lot of work behind the scenes.
Some of that work appears to have gone to waste after they were forced to withdraw their interest in defender Virgil van Dijk and apologise to Southampton after Saints complained about an alleged "tapping up" offence, although a Premier League investigation has not discovered any wrongdoing.
They have, however, signed Roma winger Mohamed Salah for 34.3million and 19 year old Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke, who is expected to initially join the under 23 squad, for a fee to be decided by a tribunal.
Meanwhile near neighbours Everton have raised the bar on Merseyside by spending close to 100m on six players.
Arguably the Reds are targeting higher profile players with RB Leipzig's 70m rated Naby Keita a player of interest and Klopp said those type of deals usually take time.
"But we have made a lot of good things so far. If you cannot see it so far, you can imagine we have done a lot of things behind the scenes.
"Sometimes you need to be patient and that's what we are in at the moment to wait for the right moment and then we will see what happens."
A large group of players including the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and James Milner returned to the Reds' Melwood training complex on Wednesday for pre season training.
And while the quest for signings continues, with the centre and left of defence also in need of strengthening, the German knows he has to get the majority of his players up to speed quickly with a crucial two legged Champions League play http://www.botshop.org off as a result of their fourth placed finish to face soon after the Premier League season kicks off.
"We all know in a few weeks we have these qualifiers and there will be pressure on the game," he added.
"But now we have the time to prepare for this and we have to use the basis we created last year it was not too bad.
"We all know it could have been maybe a little bit better but it could have been much worse.
"We are now one of the top four teams in England so now we want to keep this situation and work with it and improve.
"The squad will be stronger this year than it was last year. That's a real reason for real optimism."
Salah will, along with Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Simon Mignolet and Georginio Wijnaldum, come back later than the others as a result of their recent international commitments.
But with their first pre season friendlies just a week away, first at Tranmere next Wednesday, and then at Wigan two days later, the focus is on getting the current group ready for action.
"It's important for us to know from which point we can pick them in the next few weeks. They all look pretty much in a good shape," Klopp said.
Defender Joe Gomez is one of those back in for training and he is looking to http://www.wirralcanvas.co.uk make up for lost time after missing almost two seasons, playing just three first team matches in January after recovering from a serious knee injury.
"I've had a lot of tough periods and stuff but I'm in a good place mentally and physically. I just see it as a fresh start now to go again and attack this season," said the 20 year old.
One youngster who will be missing pre season is Rhian Brewster, whose rapid progress last season saw him promoted from the under 18s through the under 23s to a place in Klopp's squad, as he is likely to be out for eight weeks with a broken foot.
Juno nominations all over the map
Juno nominations all over the map
Country singer Jason McCoy was in the spotlight on Saturday, July 30, 2011 during the Little Lake MusicFest at Del Crary Park. City police estimate more than 8,000 people attended the concert. With the success of The Road Hammers, McCoy won a Juno Award for Country Recording of the Year and countless awards from the Canadian Country Music Association. 'I devoted all my efforts to The Road Hammers and put my solo career on hold' said McCoy. 'It's time to bring it back around now' and for the follow up album to his Greatest Hits release. Between touring, songwriting, television shows, family, recording, and the overall business of music, McCoy seems to have it all. He's in the studio now working on songs for the new solo album. Plans to release the long awaited project are in the works for 2010. CLIFFORD SKARSTEDT/PETERBOROUGH EXAMINER/QMI AGENCY
The 2012 Juno Music Awards nominations were announced in Toronto Tuesday.
As usual, it was an annoying, long winded affair, with CARAS the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences reps reading through a list of 200 plus nominees vying for 41 awards.
This being Canada, it customary for readers and music watchers to break down the list of nominees by region as if it was the national budget.
Regional nationalism seems as important to the judging as the quality of the recording.
It a cheap source of regional pride, and gives readers a feel good storyline bigger than what band to cheer for in our version of the Grammys.
Dan Mangan (Vancouver), Drake (Toronto), Feist (Calgary/Toronto), Hedley (Abbotsford), Nickelback (Hanna) and City and Colour (Toronto) garnered four nominations each.
It not a great year for the hometown team, but at least the albums nominated are worthy contenders. Nominees from Ottawa include Rise Ashen for Aboriginal Album, Craig Cardiff and David Francey for Roots, http://www.hanirestauranttehran.co.uk Monkeyjunk for Blues Album of the Year and F the Facts for Metal Album.
As glad as I was to see Deep Dark Woods The Place I Left Behind and Hey Rosetta! Seeds on the Juno list, I was even more surprised to see who didn make it.
Elliott Brood Days IntoYears, Stephen Fearing Andy White Fearing White, Olenka http://www.livingtorrents.org The Autumn Lovers And Now We Sing and Ann Vriend Love and Other Messes didn make the cut.
I know this is a very subjective process, but the Canadian music business can be so big that albums as good as these go missing.
Of course, the Junos were aware of them. They smart people who know their music inside and out. The only reason I can come up with for such glaring omissions is that the Juno committee already had too many GTA nominees.
The Junos show could be better if it stuck to music and worried less about national unity. Focus on the best music, and cut the number of awards 41 is way too many for a music industry as small as Canada Seriously, what the difference between Alternative Album of the Year and Adult Alternative Album of the Year?
While we at it, by now you heard that great Canadian actor (who hasn lived in Canada in 50 years) William Shatner will host the Junos. As much as I like Shatner, I think most of the cute factor gone out of the 82 year old hipster.

Outcry in Mullingar to name walk way after Niall HoranSnortable chocolate has arrived in the US and it's making some people really uneasyTanzanian wildlife park releases photos of lioness nursing leopard cubDownload our appPresident Michael D Higgins has paid tribute to Seamus Heaney on the news of his death saying the poet's contribution "to the republics of letters, conscience, and humanity was immense".
His family have confirmed the Nobel Laureate's death, they said.
"The death has taken place of Seamus Heaney. The poet and Nobel Laureate died in hospital in Dublin this morning after a short illness," a statement on behalf of the family said.
Fianna Fil leader Michael Martin says today is a sad day for the country as Ireland loses one of our very best.
Mr Martin has described Seamus Heaney as "a giant of modern literature" who achieved the highest accolades and honours across the globe while never losing his connection to, and love for, the people and places of his native County Derry.
He says the fact that his poems are on the curriculum for school children on both parts of the island is a fitting tribute to the unique role and resonance he had.
Those who knew him remarked on how he was renowned for always accepting invites to speak.
Patrick Corrigan, the organisation's Northern Ireland director, said he connected not just with people in Ireland but across the world.
"Through the beauty and elegance of http://www.nextgenlifts.co.uk http://www.eddiechesterremovals.co.uk his writing, Seamus Heaney reminded us of the bonds which unite and our duty to uphold the dignity of all," he said.

Embattled UF coach Muschamp gets another shot at alma mater
Embattled UF coach Muschamp gets another shot at alma mater
Will Muschamp has been on the losing end of hte Florida Georgia series his entire career.
He went 0 4 against the Gators as a defensive back for the Bulldogs in the 1990s, and he's winless in three games against Georgia as Florida's head coach.
He knows it. His players know it. Anyone who has seen the Gators fall from Southeastern Conference and national prominence the last two years knows it, too.
"We need to get a win. That's the first thing," Muschamp said when asked what the rivalry means to him. "The importance of the game to both universities is very special. So it's obviously very important."
Florida (3 3, 2 3 SEC) has lost 10 of its last 13 games, including an embarrassing, turnover filled, 42 13 drubbing against Missouri at home and on homecoming.
Athletic director Jeremy Foley could have made the move after that loss, but decided to give Muschamp a final chance to turn things around.
Another loss to Georgia (6 1, 4 1) probably would seal Muschamp's fate.
"We've got to go play our best for him," running back Kelvin Taylor said. "Coach will be fine. We're just worried about winning this game and everything else will be fine."
Georgia coach Mark Richt seemingly saved his job in Jacksonville in 2011. Coming off consecutive disappointing seasons, including a losing record in 2010, the Bulldogs dropped their first two games of the year, and given that Florida had won eight of 10 meetings against the Richt led Bulldogs, there was strong belief that his job would be in jeopardy without a victory against the Gators.
Georgia won 24 20, and Richt said afterward: "I know it was just a ballgame, but it seemed like a lot more than that."
Florida has had chances to win the last three in the series.
The Gators were driving in a four point game in 2011 before getting sacked on a fourth down play. They kept it close the following year despite six turnovers and had a chance to tie the game when Jordan Reed fumbled on the Georgia 5 yard line. Florida rallied from a 20 0 deficit last year and made it a three point game in the fourth, but the Bulldogs sealed the win with an eight plus minute drive that was aided by a personal foul penalty that negated a third down stop.
"We've had three games that have come down to the last drive, and we need to http://www.newryofficesupplies.co.uk coach and play better in those situations," Muschamp said. "Credit their team and what they've been able to do. We certainly had our opportunities."
Here are things to know about Florida and Georgia heading into Saturday's game:
NO GURLEY: Georgia star running back Todd Gurley won't play after the NCAA denied the appeal of his four game suspension. Gurley will be eligible to return Nov. 15 against Auburn, missing four games for allegedly accepting more than $3,000 for autographed memorabilia and other items over a two year period. Freshman Nick Chubb will make his third consecutive start. Chubb has 346 yards rushing and three touchdowns in wins at Missouri and Arkansas.
HARRIS STARTS: Florida freshman quarterback Treon Harris will make his first career start, replacing ineffective junior Jeff Driskel. Driskel had 12 turnovers in the last four games. Harris has completed 12 of 18 passes for 263 yards, with three touchdowns and an interception this season. Florida's message to Harris: Don't turn the ball over.
UNIQUE UNIFORMS: Florida and Georgia will both wear dark jerseys, with the Gators in blue and the Bulldogs in red. It will mark the first time both teams wore dark uniforms in the rivalry game since 1970. "We all felt it was enough of a contrast," Richt http://www.bmwdpfdelete.co.uk said. "I'm hoping our guys don't think blue is red, and the QB starts throwing to their guys. I don't think it will be an issue."
STOUT DEFENSES: Florida and Georgia are among the top defenses in the conference and the country. The Gators rank third in the league and 12th nationally, allowing 317 yards a game. The Bulldogs are fifth and 16th, respectively, giving up 321 yards a game.
BYE SUCCESS: This is only the third time in series history that both teams had a bye week before the annual game in Jacksonville. Georgia won both previous meetings (2011, 2013).

embattled Dolphins eager to move on
The 2013 Hall of Fame inductee will have his No. 99 jersey retired and become the newest member of the Bucs' Ring of honor at halftime of Monday night's nationally televised game. The matchup showcases a pair of struggling teams eager to play rather than answer more questions about their problems.
The Dolphins (4 4) are the talk of the NFL, with the league investigating accusations that second year pro Jonathan Martin left the team because he was being harassed or bullied by fellow offensive lineman Richie Incognito, and perhaps by other players.
From the awkward benching and release of quarterback Josh Freeman to an outbreak of MRSA infections in the locker room to ongoing speculation about coach Greg Schiano's future, it's been a trying year for a team that's lost 13 of 14 games dating to 2012.
Sapp, Tampa Bay's http://www.mercedesdpfdelete.co.uk career sacks leader and one of the key players on the franchise's only Super Bowl champion, has watched a disappointing season unfold from afar in his job as an analyst for the NFL Network.
"It's everything but a Ring of Honor night. It's Schiano, is he getting fired? It's Richie Incognito," said Sapp, who joins Hall of Famer Lee Roy Selmon, John McKay, Jimmie Giles and Paul Gruber in having his name displayed http://www.amateurpin.org atop Raymond James Stadium. He also will receive his Hall of Fame ring during a halftime ceremony.
Sapp was a four time All Pro and selected to the Pro Bowl seven times in nine years with the Bucs, who lost 10 or more games for 11 consecutive seasons before picking him in the first round of the 1995 draft.
The one time University of Miami star teamed with Derrick Brooks and John Lynch to form the nucleus of a dominant defense that helped transform Tampa Bay from a laughingstock into NFL champions. He was the league's Defensive Player of the Year in 1999, and three years later earned a Super Bowl ring. Tampa Bay hasn't won a playoff game since.
The 2013 Bucs have sputtered offensively and struggled to close out opponents defensively. They've held fourth quarter leads in four games, losing each in the final 89 seconds of regulation or overtime.
"I never thought it would get to this. I know we had 11 straight double digit loss seasons at one time . but this feels wrong really, really wrong," Sapp said. "It's hard to watch. Most teams have an identity: Here's who we're trying to get the ball to, you figure out over the course of the game. . I can't understand what we're doing."
Schiano is 7 17 since leaving Rutgers to take over a team that lost the final 10 games of 2011. The Bucs are 0 7 in games decided by three or fewer points under the second year coach.
"It's hard to look at because it is my team until the day I die," said Sapp, who finished his career with the Oakland Raiders.
"I fully embrace the pewter, the red, the icicle. I am Tampa. I can't hide it," he added, alluding to the team's current team colors as well as the creamsicle orange jerseys the Bucs wore before the franchise's turnaround. "It was a place where careers came to die. And me and Brooks and Lynch turned it into a destination."
The Dolphins are playing for the first time in 11 days. They beat Cincinnati on a safety in overtime to stop a four game skid about the same time the bullying scandal began brewing.
Martin's teammates are weary of answering questions about the situation and eager to finally get back on the field for a game.
"I feel like it has been forever since we played," said defensive end Cameron Wake, whose end zone sack provided the winning points against the Bengals.
Martin, a tackle, is in counseling for emotional issues. Incognito, a guard, has been suspended by the Dolphins.
Without them, the Dolphins have a new left side of the offensive line.
"It's time for everyone to step up and regroup and play a great game," guard Nate Garner said.
"We see it as a distraction that we're not going to let distract us," tackle Tyson Clabo said.
Miami coach Joe Philbin said despite all that's swirling around them, players have prepared well for only the 10th regular season meeting between franchises situated less than 300 miles apart. The Dolphins lead the series 5 4.
"I really believe in the guys we have in our locker room. I know they are good men," Philbin said. "I believe this team is going to stick together and play well."
